timber details

where versatile requirements are combined

In detail, all aesthetic, static and structural requirements are combined. Often beside the static load transfer and constructive wood protection, demands to sound, heat and fire protection as well as the consideration of the joining technology characterize the architectural appearance of details. We support you in these questions with our detail catalog.

Base Details

The planning of the base connection is essential for the durability and value of a building in timber construction. Constructive wood protection in the splash water area requires profound specialist knowledge. In order to support you in the planning of your base details, we will introduce you to further literature and design options.

GUIDELINES

In April 2015 Holzbauforschung Austria published a guideline for the planning and execution of base connections in timber house construction. We can only recommend this literature. Here you find it:

Floor slabs

The planning of detail points of wooden floor slabs is influenced by the requirements for sound and fire protection, especially for different building units. The website dataholz.eu of Holzbauforschung Austria offers extensive information.

DATAHOLZ.EU

Comprehensive expertise on wood and wood-based materials, building materials, components and component assemblies for timber construction are provided in the online catalog.

Window Connections

Windproof from the outside, airtight from the inside. This statement sounds simple, but how are roller shutter boxes integrated into the wooden panel construction? What are the advantages of a soffit insulation? We show you details including a detailed thermal bridge calculation. This allows you to take a look at the components.

ROLLER SHUTTER AND VENETIAN BLIND BOXES

A highly insulated building envelope requires carefully planned connection details. We recommend roller shutter boxes with external revision. This avoids joints and penetrations on the airtight level and reduces the thermal bridge by providing better insulation in the area of the roller shutter and venetian blind boxes.

The flat roof

Flat roofs are widely used in modern architecture. Due to the roof shape usually only a slight roof slope is carried out. In wood construction, a minimum pitch of 2% must always be guaranteed. In this case, the deflection of the supporting structure due to snow and payloads as well as creep influences and permissible dimensional tolerances must be taken into account. Due to the low roof slope, the roofs are often designed as non-ventilated constructions. Profound knowledge of the building physics of non-ventilated constructions is required to ensure durable roof structures. The following planning tools support you in choosing your roof construction.

PLANNING TOOL FLAT ROOF

Holzbauforschung Austria supports you in the planning of flat roofs and offers detailed background information on the dataholz.eu website. A guide will lead you through six short questions about possible roof structures.

INFORMATION SERVICE WOOD

In Germany Informationsdienst Holz is known for its good publications around the building material wood. Again, you will find a good work tool for the planning of flat roofs in wood construction. In January 2019, a new edition of the publication "Flat roofs in wood construction" (Holzbau Handbuch, Reihe 3, Teil 2, Folge 1) was published.
